Stef Halmos is the Executive Director of Foreland, an 85,000SF contemporary arts campus in the Village of Catskill, NY. She enjoys making friends.
Born the “week of the systems builder”, Stef believes in form-follows-function, and that it’s good to sweat the small stuff. She was a practicing artist for many decades until pursuing Foreland and further-reaching endeavors.

FORELAND
After 13 years living in New York City, Stef Halmos embarked on a large-scale arts development in Catskill, NY, now known as Foreland. On behalf of a family partnership, she spearheaded the acquisition of three historic mill buildings in 2017 and spent the next six years working with builders, craftsmen, and contractors of all kinds as the boots-on-the-ground developer to painstakingly stabilize and restore the historic buildings. Today, Foreland boasts over 50 commercial use spaces.
Stef Halmos has a BFA from Miami University, (2006) and an MFA from California College of the Arts (2012). Her work has been shown at various museums and galleries internationally. She currently exercises her creative energy doing free tattoos for anyone who wants to participate in the gift economy and have some fun.
